D.R.E.W. Projects Celebrates MHDay with local partners.
Each May, D.R.E.W. Projects celebrates our Women’s Health Initiative as part of the Menstrual Hygiene (MHDay) movement. During the last week of May, Team D.R.E.W. raise awareness about menstruation education through our Feminine Hygiene Kit (F.H.K.) campaign, which targets women and girls experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County.
Menstrual Hygiene in Action!
Our team is happy to announce we partnered with My Friend’s Place, a dynamic resource center in Hollywood, California, for this year’s F.H.K. campaign. This wonderful organization offers comprehensive services to nearly 1,400 homeless youth (~35% are girls) between the ages of 12 and 25 and their children.
With the help of LaKisha M Johnson Ministries and 40+ generous donors across many states, our F.H.K. campaign has raised ~ $2,400 to provide 53 feminine hygiene kits to My Friend’s Place to support girls with menstruation supplies.
Additionally, we dedicated 27 feminine hygiene kits to a local shelter in L.A., serving women experiencing homelessness. *A special shoutout to the anonymous donor in Wal-Mart who gave us a $100 bill toward our campaign.
Local Support
Want more good news! Athleta El Segundo partnered with D.R.E.W. Projects to donate toiletries, their associates collected in May, to distribute to our good friends at My Friend’s Place. Thanks, Athleta and team, for working with us to collectively support women and girls for MHDay 2021.
